A Whole New Ball Game: Sustainable Packaging Debut
What do green packaging material and baseball have in common? Peanuts! BASF (The Chemical Company) has developed a new sustainable, compostable material that will be used to make snack bags. The new snack bag debuted on September 5th, 2012 at Safeco Field. BASF teamed up with the Mariners to help them reach their zero-waste goal for the field. The Mariners, members of the Green Sports Alliance, gave away packages of peanuts in the new compostable bag to the first 10,000 fans. The bag represents BASF’s major breakthrough in advanced bipolymer technology, and could soon be in your local grocery store, holding your favorite bagged snack.
